CAMP WHANAWHANA

Flying kiwi

MOST CHILDREN, ADULTS, TEENAGERS, DISABLED PEOPLE AND FOREIGN TOURISTS WOULD AGREE THAT THE FLYING KIWI IS ONE OF THE MOST BREATHTAKING ACTIVITIES EVER! WHEN YOU SWING OVER THE EDGE OF THE CLIFF YOU MAY EXPERIENCE COMPLETE AWSOMENESS, THE eagerness to take a picture, START WAVING CRAZILY AT THE INSTRUCTORS. ONCE YOU HAVE HAD YOUR TURN YOU WILL HAVE TO USE YOUR STRENGTH TO PULL SOMEONE ELSE UP INTO THE BREEZE-FULLED AIR. IF THERE’S ENOUGH TIME YOU WILL GET ABOUT 3 TURNS. WHEN YOU WALK DOWN THE HILL AND GET BACK TO THE GLORIOUS CAMPSITE YOU’LL PROBABLY WISH YOU COULD BOOK ANOTHER DAY SO YOU CAN GO ON THE FLYING KIWI AGAIN! IF YOUR NERVOUS DON’T BE, YOU’LL BE FINE

Abseiling instructions
Abseiling is an activity where you basically walk down a cliff face, it sounds scary but its not! First go and get a parent and they will help you put on your harness. Then grab a helmet, make sure you put it on tight. Now you need to walk up the path to get to the top of the cliff. Make sure a parent is with you .When you get to the top wait patiently for your turn. When it is your turn, slowly walk over to Kev and he will hook you on. When you are hooked on grab onto the rope, remember to put one hand beside your hip and the other out in front of you. Make sure both hands are on the rope. Use your legs to steer, balance and control your body. When you reach the end there will be a helpful and strong adult that will unclip you and lift you over the water onto the crumbly sand. Then go and ask an adult nicely to please help you take your harness off. ABSEILING’S NOT BORING IT’S FUN!

Our Camp Descriptions -
Camp Whanawhana Description
Camp Whanawhana, the place that has the shimmery, sparkly and glistening RIVER THAT SHINES IN THE DAYLIGHT. THE CRUMBLY BROWN CLIFF TURNS INTO A GLIMMERING ORANGE CLIFF AS THE SUN RISES SLOWLY. The giant trees sway side to side as the breeze soars past them .
There they are, the Kiwi Adventure staff bringing confidence to those who are scared. They are always sacrificing their own lives for other people’s safety. Trust me, once you meet BEX, ELSEY, CLEM, ERIN, TINA AND KEV YOU’LL NEVER WANT TO LEAVE THEIR SIDE!
RUBY

Camp Whanawhana
The red and green trees surround the blue sparkling river and the native birds call to each other in the rustling bush. The hills are Cherrie red in the morning golden like grains of sand in the afternoon.
The helpful, kind and funny kiwi adventure staff helped me succeed in all the activities. They keep you out of danger.

Have you heard of Camp Whanawhana
it's the best place to be
you can hear the native
birds high up in the trees.

There are lots of activites
such as climbing down a
cliff face,
paddling on a tube
and trying to win the race.

Flying right up high and
eating yummy somemores,
but please don't tell our
mothers that we don't do
any chores!
